About the show
Julius Caesar is the all-too-familiar story of power hungry politicians and misguided patriotism throwing a nation in to chaos. Betrayal and manipulation rule as the thirst for power causes death and destruction. The show is set in a familiar world– one that could even be our own, which falls into ruin as we see the images of war-torn states that are ever-present in our world.
Characters
Leads:
Brutus: The patriot – he participates in the uprising for what he believes is the good of the country and its people. Yet Brutus is also easily manipulated, is not immune to wanting power for himself, and believes too strongly in the power of his own honor and virtue, which eventually leads to his ruin.
Cassius: A schemer who resents Caesar’s power and believes that he will be a tyrant. She is also driven by the very human desire for power. She is a shrewd manipulator all the way through.
Marc Antony: An excellent politician, he begins by playing the loyal follower of Caesar, but also has his own desire for power. He is an excellent manipulator of public opinion and will do anything to gain power.
Julius Caesar: The war hero who has come to power through military victory. He is arrogant, but not decidedly a tyrant at the time he is assassinated.

Casca (also Young Cato): One of the original conspirators.
Cinna (also Messala): A conspirator.
Decius Brutus (also Marullus, Cicero, and Pindarus): A conspirator; a great flatterer.
Trebonius (also Titinius, ensemble): A conspirator.
Metellus Cimber (also ensemble): A conspirator – sets up Caesar for his death.
Portia (also ensemble): Brutus’ wife, an intelligent woman who resents her lower status as a female and tries desperately to get her husband to confide in her, and later commits suicide.
Calpurnia (also ensemble): Caesar’s wife, who worries greatly about him and almost succeeds in stopping him from going to the site of his death.
